​Christopher G. Odongo

​Christopher Odongo comes from a small village called Sega in western Kenya. Fortunate enough to be the youngest of seven siblings and currently residing in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is a graduate of Thomas-more University in Northern Kentucky, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accountancy, a minor in business administration, and an associate degree in information systems.

​Chris is very happy to be part of Ugali Youth because he wants to have the opportunity to give back. In August of 2015 he was blessed to get a scholarship to study at TMU, he jumped on it and made the best of the opportunity. Having come from a humble background, he worked hard and was able to be the President of the Accounting Society, resident assistant, treasurer of the International Students Society.  A member of the James Graham Brown Honors Program, served as president of Delta Epsilon Sigma, and was an active member of Delta Mu Delta Society.

While at TMU, received numerous awards and recognition, including the Academic Excellence Award awarded by Financial Executive Research Foundation (FERF) & FEI Cincinnati Chapter, the Donald A. Rudler Accountancy Scholarship and VonLehman Accountancy Scholarship. Earned dean’s high honors for five semesters, was named Resident Assistant of the Year in 2017, and was part of the Resident Assistant Team of the Year in 2019. Currently I’m an associate risk assurance team member with PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP in Cincinnati.

Chris says his story is not unique at all, an opportunity opened up and he seized the moment. Many youth in Kenya are very smart but lack the opportunity. He joined Ugali Youth to encourage them to never give up no matter what, there is always hope if you work hard. Who would have known a kid from a small village called Sega would beat such odds? He is planning to use his talent to support Ugali Youth reach and encourage as many youth as possible. Because creating a community of peers and mentors who share common experiences is a powerful tool for healing and positive growth, especially for young people.
