Why we use Ubuntu Philosophy

I Am Because We Are
In Western philosophy, personal identity emphasizes individuality: "I am."
In contrast, African philosophy shapes the sense of self through relationships with others. It’s a way of living grounded in the idea that “I am” only because “we are.” This concept, known as Ubuntu, forms the foundation of Ugali Youth. Ubuntu teaches us to tap into our shared human values and use the best of these to humanize everyone, bridging gaps and uniting our community.
René Descartes is often referred to as the first modern philosopher. His famous statement, “I think, therefore I am,” has shaped how we conceptualize our sense of self in the West. But what if there is another way to think about personal identity — a non-Western philosophy that rejects this focus on individuality?
